5 Kid-Friendly Self-Care Routines For Young Girls

Self-care, by definition, is "the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's health."

Many people associate self-care with adulthood because life as an adult includes many responsibilities and demanding tasks such as work, family, and maintaining a social life.

Life as a kid? Simple. Life as a teen or young girl is socialization, shopping, TikTok videos, and keeping up with the latest trends. Sounds so simple, right? However, teens and young girls face other challenges in life that can take a toll on their mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

This is why introducing a self-care routine at a young age is important as it sets the tone of caring for yourself into adulthood.

Here are 5 easy self-care ideas for young girls:

  1. Skincare Routine

Establish a nighttime routine that includes taking care of the body. Try a gentle mud mask, body scrub, or a deep cleaning facial wash and exfoliator brush.

  1. Journaling

Some young girls find it hard to express themselves or don't feel comfortable speaking to their parents about what they're feeling. Journaling is good for navigating emotions and getting into a better headspace.

  1. Quiet Time

Quiet time isn't only for trying to settle down an active toddler, but for anyone. With the mind stimulated throughout the day, it's important to stop, gather your thoughts, and regroup. The perfect time can be 15 minutes before bed or first thing in the morning.

  1. Yoga/Exercise

There are plenty of kid-friendly beginner yoga videos on YouTube to try out. Yoga is good for the mind, body, and soul. Exercising also releases endorphins in the body which is why most people are in a better mood after a good workout.

  1. Finding A Hobby

Doing something that you love can make anyone feel good. There's no greater enjoyment than doing something you are passionate about. A hobby can be either crafting, drawing, reading, or skating.
